Places for People Living Plus will open the doors to a brand new show home at Nightingale Lodge in Romsey this week, giving customers in the area the first chance to step inside.
Offering new accommodation to people over 55, Nightingale Lodge – named after Victorian icon and former Romsey resident Florence Nightingale – is a new community development being delivered by Places for People Living Plus in partnership with Test Valley Borough Council and Hampshire County Council.
Now, ahead of completion in just a couple of months’ time, the team is opening up two of Nightingale Lodge’s 54 homes for viewings. Customers can visit a brand new, fully dressed, two-bedroom show apartment, which will be offered for sale through shared ownership, with residents able to purchase between 25% and 75% of the home’s full value.
The space, which features a private outdoor terrace, open plan living and dining space and a bathroom, has been designed by Just Imagine Contract Interiors, who have developed a stunning, classic design for the home, using blue and mustard accents. Striking feature wall coverings and beautiful upholstery give the show apartment a vibrant feel and help future occupiers visualise life here. A second apartment type, available to rent, can also be viewed from late August.
Tom Brown, National Retirement Living Manager for Places for People Living Plus said: “There’s so much anticipation for this development which will offer new ways of living for local people, so I’m delighted to now be able to welcome customers inside.
“By opening up the space for the first time we hope to give customers the perfect starting point as they imagine life at Nightingale Lodge.”
The development is accessible to a range of local people, with Places for People Living Plus ensuring that customers can rent or buy here; 17 homes will be on sale through Shared Ownership, while 37 affordable rent properties will be available via Hampshire Home Choice for people who have care and housing needs in the local area.
Councillor Liz Fairhurst, Hampshire County Council’s Executive Lead Member for Adult Services and Public Health said: “Nightingale Lodge is one of a number of ‘Extra Care’ developments across Hampshire in which the County Council is investing, to provide independent living for older people but with care and support on-site 24/7.
“Working collaboratively with Places for People and Test Valley Borough Council, the Romsey scheme is creating high-quality new homes for local people who wish to remain independent but who may need extra help. We are very much looking forward to this important local amenity opening its doors to the public in the coming weeks.”
As well as the new homes, Nightingale Lodge also features communal resident areas. Wellbeing is boosted with landscaped outdoor space; in addition to the terraces and patios for each home there is a large residents’ garden.
The community also boasts several extra care facilities – including 24-hour onsite care, commissioned by Hampshire County Council. Residents will also benefit from a wellness suite, hair and beauty salon, a restaurant to enjoy meals with other residents or guests, and a communal lounge which will be a hub for social activities.
Located just one mile from the historic market town of Romsey and a short drive from the New Forest, means that residents are surrounded by local attractions to enjoy with family and friends – and with private residents parking at Nightingale Lodge, living there is hassle-free.
Places for People Group, owns or manages more than 209,000 homes across the UK. Nightingale Lodge is the company’s first extra care development in Romsey.
The homes on offer include one and two-bed apartments, each featuring a contemporary kitchen, appealing living space and stylish modern bathroom with walk in shower.
The development will benefit Romsey by bringing new homes and creating jobs in the local area. Places for People has partnered with Lovell Later Living and Amiri, who are constructing the homes.
